Aha, i cytuję Timeless, bo przecież obiecałam:
"He dinna act like Alpha."
All Lyall's attention was on Biffy; he barely glanced at the Kingair Alpha. "He does in some areas," he replied.

I'm somewhere, doing THIS.
often it is the only
thing
between you and
impossibility.
no drink,
no woman's love,
no wealth
can
match it.
nothing can save
you
except
writing.
it keeps the walls
from
failing.
the hordes from
closing in.
it blasts the
darkness.
writing is the
ultimate
psychiatrist,
the kindliest
god of all the
gods.
writing stalks
death.
it knows no
quit.
and writing
laughs
at itself,
at pain.
it is the last
expectation,
the last
explanation.

Kobiecość niosąca i gorzkie zmęczenie.

I wilkołaki. Ach, wilkołaki... :)
Tymczasem: fragment z aktualnie pożeranej przeze mnie trzeciej części cyklu znanego jako Parasol Protectorate - Blameless:
(...)Professor Lyall sighed heavily. “He has been intoxicated these last three days.”
“Good gracious me! I wasn’t even aware of the fact that werewolves could become intoxicated.” The Frenchwoman’s scientific interest was piqued.
“It takes some considerable effort and real allocation of resources.”
“What was he drinking?”
“Formaldehyde, as it turns out. Just this morning I deduced his source. It is most wearisome. He worked his way through all of my reserves and then demolished half my specimen collection before I realized what he was up to. I keep a laboratory, you see, on Woolsey Castle grounds in a converted gamekeeper’s hut.”
“Are you saying that you actually are a legitimate professor?” Madame Lefoux tilted her head, her eyes narrowing in newfound respect.
“Not as such. Amateur ruminantologist, to be precise.”
“Oh.”
Professor Lyall looked modestly proud. “I am considered a bit of an expert on the procreative practices of Ovis orientalis aries.”
“Sheep?”
“Sheep.”
“Sheep!” Madame Lefoux’s voice came over suddenly high, as though she were suppressing an inclination to giggle.
“Yes, as in baaaa.” Professor Lyall frowned. Sheep were a serious business, and he failed to see the source of Madame Lefoux’s amusement.
“Let me understand this correctly. You are a werewolf with a keen interest in sheep breeding?...”

If I hadn't been a Ravenclaw at heart, I'd be...
Rules of Being a Successful Slytherin
by J. L. Matthews
1. For every rule, there is a loophole.
2. Never give a mundane explanation when a magical one can be hinted at.
3. If fair means have failed you, it is time to resort to foul.
4. If foul means have failed you, it probably wasn't worth having anyway.
5. If at first you don't succeed, hide all evidence that you tried. (not original, but it had to be here!)
6. Winning isn't everything. Your image is.
7. Three professionals no Slytherin should be without: a lawyer, a PR rep and a damn good style consultant.
8. If fortune has presented you with an unexpected opportunity which you don't really deserve, the last thing you should do is correct the mistake. (one of the Discworld books, but I can't remember which, probably Wyrd Sisters or Lords and Ladies, maybe Witches Abroad)
9. NEVER play little old ladies at cards. EVER. (Taken from Witches Abroad by Terry Pratchett)
10. NEVER seek to rob, con, beat up or otherwise abuse small, harmless seeming little old men. (Taken from Thief of Time by Terry Pratchett. Down nine places from Rule One.)
11. The truth is a terrible and dangerous thing, and should be avoided if at all possible.
12. If someone has the power to completely disarm you, to take you apart from the inside out, to turn their dreams into yours, to invade every single part of your life and marry it with theirs so you don't know whose is whose anymore, to bring you sobbing into their arms like the child you've always denied ever being and to destroy you utterly with a single glance... for gods' sake, don't tell them!
13. Keep smiling. A well planned smile can be more frightening than a single glare.
14. Your real feelings are a precious thing indeed. And they should be better guarded than Fort Knox.
15. Of all the Slytherins you will ever meet, there is one who you should fear above all others. And that is the Slytherin Who Still Has A Cuddly Animal And Is Not Afraid To Show It.
16. Bright colours are the devil's work.
17. Don't underestimate the benefits of Muggle technology - there's no magical substitute for a rocket launcher.
18. Or for that matter an armoured tank.
19. Tantrums are good. A systematic and brutal revenge is better.
20. Never wear anything that doesn't end in a vowel.
21. There are very few things that can't have bets placed on them.
22. Make sure you're the one taking the bets.
23. Despite what everyone tells you, spilling red wine on your best silk shirt IS a hanging offence.
24. So, for that matter, is yellow and black as a combination. The real reason why we're always teasing the Hufflepuffs.
25. Slytherins ARE sexier. Studies prove it. (Sirius Black is the exception rather than the rule.)
26. If you ever come across a cool piece of jewellery or a weapon with an ancient curse or prophecy over it - leave it where it is. Don't get involved. They're more trouble than they're worth.
27. Definitely don't get involved with pretty brunettes sporting cool snake tattooes and a destiny over them. It will end in tears. (you'll need to have read Slytherin Rising to get that one!)
28. Never forget the house colours - silver, green and the unofficial third colour - black.
29. Some Slyths rely on their wands. Others rely on their fists. Some rely on the power of a single glance. Others don't need to rely on anything at all because the mere mention of their name is enough. But the one weapon no Slytherin can afford to be without is the Witty Quip. Have one ready at all times.
30. There are many methods of achieving immortality. Fame. Fortune. Heroic Deeds. Creativity. Lots and lots of descendants. However, the one you should favour is Not Dying. (Taken from Colour of Magic by Pratchett, no surprises there, eh?)
31. Hero is not a compliment. (From Thief of Time by... flippin' hell, I'm sick of typing his name, you surely know it by now.)
32. Sneaky bastard is.
33. There is always a price.
34. They only hate you because they're jealous.
35. But one day, they'll need you. And then, finally, we will get our reward.

Been bragging to somebody about it quite recently, and so today I re-read it, again. And no, I don't think I've had enough.
"It's fine - I was just wondering whether this would make any difference (...) but it won't," she said emphatically. "This -" and she indicated the two of them, pale skin against pale winter skin tinged gold in the light of the last remaining candle, "- this is an expression, not a definition. It won't be any different - if things were going to change, they would have changed by now. And I won't give a hostage to fortune - not after all these months."

XVII.

Knowing how to feel is more important than how you feel.
PS.

Polecam.

Things to say when stressed at work
Stolen... ekhm, borrowed from a wonderful lady who goes by the name of Radak on LJ.
Bolded my favorites.
"Okay, okay! I take it back. Unfuck you!"
"You say I'm a bitch like it's a bad thing."
"Well, this day was a total waste of make-up."
"Well, aren't we a fuckin ray of sunshine."
"Don't bother me, I'm living happily ever after."
"EXCUSE ME...Do I look like a people person?"
"This isn't an office. It's hell with fluorescent lighting!"
"I started out with nothing and still have most of it left."
"Therapy is expensive. Popping bubble wrap is cheap. You choose."
"Why don't you try practicing random acts of intelligence and senseless acts of self-control?"
"I'm not crazy. I've just been in a very bad mood for 30 years."
"Sarcasm is just one more service I offer."
"Do they ever shut up on your planet?"
"I'm not your type. I'm not inflatable"
"Stress is when you wake up screaming and you realise you haven't gone to sleep yet."
"Back off!! You're standing in my aura."
"Don't worry. I forgot your name too."
"I work 55 hours a week to be this poor."
"Not all men are annoying. Some are dead."
"Wait...I'm trying to imagine you with a personality"
"Chaos, panic and disorder. My work here is done."
"Ambivalent? Well, yes and no."
"You look like shit. Is that the style now?"
"Earth is full. Go home."
"Aw, did I step on your poor little bitty ego?"
"I'm not tense, just terribly, terribly alert."
"A hard-on doesn't count as personal growth."
"You are depriving some village of an idiot."
"If assholes could fly, this place would be an airport!"
"Jeez!!! Who lit the fuse on your tampon?"
Bolded my favorites.

Przeniknął bramy śmierci i zaznał płomieni piekła.
Zaczęłam oglądać czwarty sezon wiadomego serialu, i już wiem, czemu Amber zyskała sobie ksywkę Cutthroat Bitch. Nie ma lepszego sposobu opisania jej charakteru. Przaśnie!, jak by to powiedziała Anulka.
Ojej.

At that point, the stress of the evening broke and Snape found himself almost choking with laughter at the idea of comparing a tampon and Voldemort; it was late and he was clearly tired. But he was never again going to be able to take the Dark Lord quite as seriously as he perhaps ought to.

Odpowiadałam szczerze, żeby nie było ;)

EDIT:
A teraz - celem wyjasnienia, dlaczego wynik powyzszego testu stanowi wielka prawde o mojej osobie...
Hawkeye: Margaret, you gotta settle a bet between me and BJ.
Margaret: Oh?
Hawkeye: He says there's nothing going on between you and Bud; on the other hand, I say there's nothing going on between you and Bud.
BJ: So, come on, which of us is right?
Margaret, fingers playing with a bowl of pretzels: That is my personal affair.
BJ: Ooooh!
Margaret: BUSINESS, I mean, business. And I intend to keep it that way.
Bud, approaching them: If you fellows will excuse me, I'm gonna turn in.
Hawkeye: Must be exhausted.
Bud: I'll say my goodbyes in the morning.
Margaret, following him in the general direction of the door, the bowl in her hand: It's awfully dark out there, Bud -- why don't I walk you to your tent?
Bud: I'd be delighted!
Hawkeye, outraged: Why are you taking the pretzles?
Margaret, after a pause, flipping a pretzle between her fingers as an imitation of a cigarette: Because... I don't smoke.
(She leaves with Bud, leaving the two Swamp Rats speechless.)

EDIT:
A teraz - celem wyjasnienia, dlaczego wynik powyzszego testu stanowi wielka prawde o mojej osobie...

Hmm...

House M.D., "Dying Changes Everything"
[Thirteen, a young, promising doctor, suffering from a disease that will in the end attack her nervous system and reduce her to the form of a human plant, talks to a seriously ill female patient who's been fired by an employer that couldn't wait for her to get out of the hospital. The patient (who considers herself a feminist) doesn't care much about the situation and won't fight for it, so Thirteen yells at her, and gets an answer.]
"[Why don't you do something about it!] We can have anything!"
"No, we can't. We can aspire to anything, but we don't get it just because we want it. And I would rather spend my life close to the birds, than waste it, wishing I had wings."

Daniel Handler, ADVERBS

Hugh Laurie - "The Gun Seller"
There once was a man who went to see a psychiatrist, crippled by a fear of flying. His phobia was based on the belief that that there would be a bomb on any plane he boarded. The psychiatrist tried to shift the phobia but couldn't, so he sent his patient to a statistician. The statistician prodded a calculator and informed the man that the odds against there being a bomb on board of the next flight he took were half a million to one. The man still wasn't happy, and sat there convinced that he'd be on that one plane out of half a million. So the statistician prodded the calculator again and said 'all right, would you feel safer if the odds were ten million to one against?' The man said, yes, of course he would. So the statistician said 'the odds against there being two, separate, unrelated bombs on board your next flight are exactly ten million to one against.' The man looked puzzled and said 'that's all well and good, but how does it help me?' The statistician replied: 'It's very simple. You take a bomb on board with you.'
I told this to a grey-suited businessman from Leicester, sitting in the seat next to me, but he didn't laugh at all. Instead, he called a stewardess and said he thought I had a bomb in my luggage. I had to tell the story again to the stewardess, and a third time to the co-pilot who came back and squatted at my feet with a scowl on his face. I'm never going to make polite conversation ever again.
